The department is affiliated with the Oral Preschool 研究 Program and offers both the Motor Behavior and 公园、娱乐 & 旅游研究 labs. With a strong emphasis on community engagement, our researchers work to expand knowledge and bring undergraduate and graduate students into their work.
CIEES is ODU's first center to focus extensive grant funds on the comprehensive improvement of education systems for K-12 students with diverse learning needs, with over $60 million in grant awards.
CMHD is a training and research center engaging in evaluating and understanding health disparities among persons with disabilities and other health conditions, and implementing research-based trainings/programs to enhance well-being among these populations.
Physical Activity Courses
Human Movement Science offers courses in self defense and three types of martial arts, as well as physical education courses in swimming, 瑜伽, 举重训练, golf and aerobics.
Accredited by CAEP
Special Education and 健康 & Physical Education are accredited by the Council for the 认证 for Education Preparation (CAEP). The Virginia Standards of 技术 for Instructional Personnel are also satisfied within the coursework.
